Bali Culinary Pastry School in collaboration with Hatten Education Center conducted Wine Class for all students who has enrolled Professional Chef Program. Hatten Education Center is the education institution in Indonesia that recognize as first Approved Program Provider by international wine education body the Wine & Spirit Educational Trust (WSET) from UK.
Ms. Kertawidyawati as a WSET Educator and Head of Hatten Education Center introduced about wine knowledge at beginner level. In 2 days, from 4-5th February 2021, students learned about the introduction to wine basic knowledge, from history of wine, types of wine to wine tasting. Students also had opportunity to learn more about wine food pairing knowledge. Students paired individual dishes with different wines to experience the enhancing the flavor of both the food and the wine.
“Pairing food with the different types and style of wine will make your dining experience very enjoyable, that why to have the abilities of pairing wine and food will be very beneficial skill in the future,” said Ms. Kertawidyawati as the WSET Educator.
Learning about wine is a wonderful experience. “This is a new experience for me, this class is so much fun! We learned many things, from basic knowledge of wine to food pairing. Food pairing is the most exciting things we learned during the class. It’s simple, but it turns out that many people don’t know and have the wrong idea about enjoying wine,” said one of BCPS students.
At the end of Wine Class Level 1, all those who have participated will take an exam in order to assess what they have learnt. After successfully completing the Wine Class, students received WSET certificate from WSET Global, the global and international recognition for their wine knowledge in WSET Award In Wine level 1.
